Exercise stresses your muscles' energy demand, and the body responds by building more mitochondria to meet it, a process called mitochondrial biogenesis. More mitochondria means more capacity to produce ATP, which means more baseline energy.

This is why fit people often describe having more energy in daily life. They have literally grown more cellular power plants.

The type matters less than the habit

Both endurance work and strength training drive mitochondrial adaptation through different pathways. Zone-two cardio is especially associated with mitochondrial density, but the best exercise for this is the one you will do consistently.

Even small amounts count. A daily walk moves the needle more than an occasional heroic workout followed by a week on the couch.

Where supplements fit

No compound substitutes for the mitochondrial adaptation that exercise produces. Compounds that support the electron transport chain, methylene blue among them in the research conversation, work on the efficiency of the machinery you already have and the machinery exercise builds.

Movement is the foundation. Supplements are the finishing layer, and they are a poor trade for skipping the walk.
